If you’re on a diet, then you’re most likely been warned about excessive fruit intake. I’ve always had to be mindful about the quantities because of their high carbohydrate content. Well, not after I found out that there are several fruits that are low in carb content, but high in fiber and water, which you can eat without worrying about getting fat.
Replace the banana, peaches, and grapes in your refrigerator with these gems and you can eat until you’re satisfied and not have a care in the world!
Strawberries – Strawberries are made up of 91% water. The carbohydrates make up only 7.7%, which is the reason why if you consume 1 cup of halves of strawberries, you are good at 49 calories. Consuming food containing water causes the stomach to full quickly and empty at a slow pace. Which means, if you’re ravenous, but trying hard to lose fat, you can reach for another cup of strawberries.

Apple – Studies have shown that when you eat foods that are high in volume, yet low in density (calories), you eat less at the meal or during the day. Apple meets this condition perfectly, which is the reason why it is one of the best fruits to snack on. When you eat a medium sized pink lady apply, the energy intake is just 72kcal.

Watermelon – If you’re craving another candy bar, a cup of ripe watermelon with a dollop of honey can be a perfect replacement, as the carbohydrates in this fruit is mostly sugars. There is only 0.2g of fat in 1 cup of watermelon, but has 92% water content and 0.6g fibre. Since it is fibre rich and contains mostly water, this is one fruit you can indulge in midfully. If you’re wary about the sugar intake, just prepare a salad by mixing it with any other low calorie fruit like apple.

Cherries – Cherry is a super food; its nutritional benefits are many. A cup of sweet cherries can make you feel full. The fact that fresh cherries have low glycemic index helps with the quantity of intake. Foods with low glycemic index could give you a slower rise in blood sugar. What makes cherry the best among all of the above choice is it various health benefits. Studies show that cherries can prevent gout, lower the risk of cancer, reduce muscle soreness. Just remember to spit out the pits!
